Indonesia going to join to Asian Caravan

12 civil resisters from Indonesia will be joining a convoy of humanitarian mission “Asia to Gaza Solidarity Caravan” to break illegal Israeli siege on Gaza Strip.

Their departure was inaugurated released by the Spekaer of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie on December 8, 2010 at the House of Parliament. They come from varios NGOs such as Voice of Palestine, MER-C, Hilal Ahmar Society, Al Aqsa Working Group, and PB HMI. The will leave for Iran by plane and join the convoy in the holy city of Qom.

Along with other Asian volunteers from more than 13 other countries, they will pass through cities of Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt, before entering Gaza from Rafah crossing. The convoy will travel more than 4000 km and expected to reach Gaza on 27 December 2010, which will mark the Second Anniversary of the Israeli brutal aggression on Gaza & the Victory of the National Palestinian Resistance.

This is the first pan-Asia convoy that was organized by “Asian People's Solidarity for Palestine”, an alliance of peoples’ organizations, social movements, trade unions, and civil society institutions of Asia.

Speaker of Parliament Marzuki Alie siad that the House fully support this historic mission of Asia. According to him, the House will do its best to assist and monitor this mission. “The foundation of this mission is clear, that is our Constitution which states that independence is the right of all peoples,” Marzuki said. “Indonesia has always been consistently supporting the Palestinian cause.
